Snow Countess Poetry & Photo Contest (12-18 years)

To celebrate the beloved Woodstock Springbank Snow Countess' birthday, November 18, Woodstock Public Library is holding a poetry contest in her honour for the month of November!

Wondering how to participate in this super fun contest? Here are the details:

Choose your category
Category 1: 12-14 years
Category 2: 15-18 years

Poetry Submission Guidelines
- All poems should be about Woodstock or be Woodstock-related - what do you love about Woodstock? What says Woodstock to you? Be creative!
- Poems should be original, but can be in any style (rhyming, Haiku, sonnet, free verse, etc.)
- Length: poem should be no more than 50 lines
- Title: please make sure your poem has a title!
- Must be submitted in Microsoft Word (.DOC) or PDF format
- Use of AI in submissions will result in disqualification from the contest

Don't forget to include:
- Your name
- The age category you are submitting for (12-14 or 15-18)
- Your contact information (email and/or phone number)
- Entrants must live or attend school in Woodstock or have a valid WPL card

Not a poet? Send us your photos!
- Submit an original photo with the Springbank Snow Countess (located at the corner of Springbank Ave. & Dundas St. in Woodstock) to share on our socials.
- Connect with us on Instagram: @mywpl and @wplteen, or find us on Facebook under "Woodstock Public Library".
- Make sure to give your photo a fun name!
- Don't forget to include: your name and contact information (email and/or phone number); there is only one category for photo submissions: 12-18 years
- Entrants must live or attend school in Woodstock or have a valid WPL card

Where and when do I send my entry?
Entries should be submitted to programs@mywpl.ca by November 28, 2025

Winners
One winner from each category (1. Poetry: 12-14 years, 2. Poetry: 15-18 years, 3. Best Photo: 12-18 years) will be chosen by local judges! Prizes will be specially selected from some of Woodstock's favourite independent shops!
